BTB Transformers Ab strengthens Auroora Yhtiöt Oyj’s electrification and automation offering
BTB Transformers, forerunner in transformer solutions, is joining the Finnish serial acquirer Auroora Yhtiöt Oyj’s Electrification and Automation segment. On March 20, 2025, the companies signed an agreement under which Auroora will acquire 100% of BTB Transformers’ shares. The sellers are key personnel of BTB, who will become shareholders of Auroora through a reinvestment made in connection with the transaction, as well as investor shareholders.
BTB Transformers specializes in buying, selling, and supplying transformers, reactors, and other electrical components. Additionally, the company offers maintenance and consulting services related to its products. Transformers play a crucial role in the electrification megatrend, as they are needed for all electricity generation, regardless of the production method. The energy- and green transitions further increase the demand, with new drivers including energy storage and large data centers. Finland’s electricity consumption is expected to double over the next ten years.
“The world is electrifying at an accelerating pace, and Auroora is committed to ensuring that this transition continues smoothly and without disruption. BTB Transformers is a perfect fit to the strategy and structure of Auroora’s Electrification and Automation segment. As a serial acquirer, Auroora generally operates its companies as independent entities. However, BTB Transformer’s offering integrates to Auroora in a way that naturally creates synergy benefits,” says Harri Lamminen, Electrification and Automation segment expert and Auroora’s board member.
Founded in 2005, BTB Transformers provides transformer solutions tailored to customer needs through an extensive international partner network. The company serves industrial enterprises, system integrators, EPC companies, and electricity companies worldwide. In 2024, BTB recorded a turnover of approximately 21,6 million euros. The company has experienced strong growth in recent years, and this trend is expected to continue, supported by a solid order book.
“We approached Auroora because we saw an excellent partner that shares our values and vision for the future. Together, we can meet growing demand and develop innovative solutions for the electrification megatrend. We are excited about the future opportunities and collaboration,” says Jim Stenman, CEO of BTB Transformers.
BTB and its key personnel bring extensive experience in transformer deliveries and strong industry networks. The company is well-known for its effective supply chain management and quality assurance, alongside deep customer understanding. BTB’s management will remain in their current roles and join Auroora’s leadership network. The rest of the staff will also continue working within the company as part of Auroora.
The transaction is subject to approval by competition authorities and is expected to be completed by early April.
